Microneedling
Microneedling uses a device that has a 6 mm circular tip with 12 microneedles. The needles puncture your skin repeatedly at an extremely high speed at a superficial level. This damages the skin’s surface which forces collagen production and can be used to smooth fine lines and scars (such as acne scarring). You will see benefits of smaller pore size, tighter and smoother skin.
You can expect down time to be about 1 to 3 days but an initial 24 hours of redness and occasional swelling under the eyes are not unusual. We recommend not wearing makeup for 24 hours afterwards so the micro holes can heal without the risk of causing an infection. You can expect your skin to feel a bit rough for about 3-5 days post treatment so we recommend using a good primer under your makeup to ensure a better application. You can resume your normal skin care regime during the healing process but avoid any exfoliating products which includes both physical (gritty) exfoliates & chemical exfoliates (such as Retin A) for about 6 days. On the 7th day, it is a good idea to gently exfoliate.
Best results are achieved when you get the second treatment 6-8 weeks after your first. Following that and depending on each individual and their skin needs, the 3rd treatment could be anywhere from 3 months to 1 year following the 2nd treatment.

PRP Facial
The PRP Facial is microneedling with your own PRP blood platelets (PRP means Platelet Rich Plasma). Consider this treatment if you want to add another layer of intensity and notable results beyond microneedling on its own. This is an extremely popular service for someone who wants quick, longer lasting results.
Dr. Sullivan first draws a small amount of your blood which gets spun to separate the platelets. Once separated, only the platelet rich plasma (which is clear/white) is drawn and used for the procedure (so no need to worry if the sight of blood makes you queasy). The normal microneedling procedure follows this process with the application of the PRP which pushes the platelets in deeper. After this treatment is done, the skin feels very tight.
The skin reacts remarkably to this treatment because it is your own platelets being used. Results from this treatment last longer than just microneedling alone, but based on your skin needs we can discuss how often this treatment should be done.
